Amherst Virginia

When I graduated from college, I was anxious to try to buy a piece of real estate in Virginia or West Virginia where I hoped to eventually start a nursery business. After touring realtors offices for several years, I finally found a site which seemed nearly perfect. My property (78 acres) begins on the other side of this farmer's field.

• The soil was good for growing plants. -- Beautiful soil with lots of wild flowers
• There was water on the property. -- Two streams with room for a nice size pond.
• The property was easily accessible. -- The road goes right through the property.
• There was a beautiful view of the mountains. -- Judge for yourself.
• The price was affordable. -- I paid about $300 per acre in 1971.
