Computer Graphics/Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning: Simulation of a household pet. Title: The Application of Artificial Intelligence Algorithms in Creating a Simulated Pet Objective: The purpose of the project is to create a simulated pet using algorithms of artificial intelligence. Justification: The principle behind my project is to create a substitute to a pet. For various reasons, a child may not be able to aquire a pet and this may make that child sad. Reasons range from allergies to responsibilities. A simulated pet would allow the child to enjoy all the aspects of a real pet along with the responsibilities that it ensues. Theoretically, such a project can be used to further advance the artificial intelligence algorithms used to simulate more complex beings such as humans. Description: I plan on accomplishing my goal by researching several popular domestic house pets and jotting their characteristics and attributes. I'll use the qualities to create a made up unique pet with the stereotypical qualities of a domestic house pet. Examples of algorithms used for the simulated pet would be when the pet decides that he is hungry, when the pet wants to play, growth and body size, health, and more. The algorithms would also be time sensitive. So if you have not fed your pet in several days, it would probably die or at least be starved. Limitations: Known limitations to my project would be my knowledge of domestic house pets, time and graphic artist ability.
