Saturday, 20 October 2007 |

Students completed their final activity of the 2007 NCSSSMST Student Conference, a riverboat tour along the Potomac River aboard The Cherry Blossom. NCSSSMST Board of Directors President Dr. Janet Hugo, Executive Director Dr. Cheryl Lindeman, conference sponsor Milde Waterfall, and student leaders Chris Atwood, Cindy Wei, and Yang He provided closing remarks, inspiring students to consider the boundless future as well as the lessons of the past and present.
We would especially like to thank Mrs. Waterfall, our conference sponsor, who was always there to shepherd us when we needed her, who was always there to support us and guide us, who was always simply there.
We would also like to thank Ms. Heather Sondel and Ms. Melissa Schoeplein, who filled behind-the-scenes support roles and were instrumental in the execution of the conference. Numerous TJHSST faculty members also played a vital role in allowing the conference to run smoothly. Mrs. Sharon Webb and Mrs. Lucy La Salle assisted in getting students on and off busses efficiently, Mrs. Amanda Hurowitz arranged for a recycling system at the conference hotel, Mr. Richard Washer and Mr. Peter Morasca served as technology facilitators at the school, and Mr. Jim Jarvis and Mr. Hadan Kauffman served as judges in the Google Sketch-Up competition. In addition, Mrs. Carolyn Gecan, Dr. Evan Glazer, Ms. Sharon Sneed, Ms. Susan Litwin, Mr. Roger Green, Ms. Lindsay O'Connell, Mr. Koji Otani, Mr. Adam Wong, Mrs. Betsy Sandstrom, Mrs. Sharon Webb, Mrs. Lucy La Salle, Mr. Steve Rose, Mrs. Ellen Whitten, Dr. Jonathan Osborne, Mrs. Genevieve Delfosse, Ms. Cathie Love, Ms. Nancy McCormick, and Mrs. Heather Sondel worked in concert to iron hundreds of patches onto student and chaperone lab coats. We would like to acknowledge all of these people for their assistance.
We would of course like to thank the NCSSSMST Board for their support of this conference, our affiliate school Montgomery Blair High School, and our numerous sponsors, including George Mason University, Orbital Sciences, Micron Technology, The Cold War Museum, Google, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, The Sarah Lahr Educational Fund, The Parrish Foundation, and Carolina Biological Supply Company. |
